Time to make new Halloween plans.
The crown for the most haunted roadway in America is in New Haven County, Jeremy Swamp Road, located in Southbury, according to a new ranking released by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
The supposedly haunted road beats out nine other spooky spectacles across the midwest and west coast of the US.
According to Travel & Leisure and urban legend, the Southbury stretch of pavement is known to be a spot where drivers break down and disappear while waiting for the tow truck to come.
Many of the disappearances are attributed to Connecticut’s “Melon Heads,” which are described by the New England Historical Society as “small humanoids with oversized heads.”
Thought to have escaped from the now-abandoned mental institution, Fairfield Hills Hospital, the creatures survive by eating not only stray cats and animals but human flesh, especially “the flesh of teenagers.”
Others have claimed to see orbs, lights, EVP recordings, and even to have captured the spirits on camera.
Those looking for a fun Halloween outing may want to stop by - but be sure not to break down.
